SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

With the final orb broken, the Wood Dragon god Aldoron comes to life. The humans that lived in the five cities on his body happily give up their lives and are absorbed by Aldoron. Meanwhile, the White Mage realizes that the person who gave her this Whiteout mission lied to her. As such, the members of Fairy Tail are no longer in her control and can use their powers at will again.

Wendy uses Separation Enchantment to separate the White Mage from Touka. As they flee the crumbling church, Natsu decides to save the unconscious White Mage. He then sends Wendy, Charle (Carla) with the White Mage while he deals with Aldoron. At that time, the Guiltina Magic Council, Mir sends a fleet of flying ships to attack Aldoron with magic cannons. He emerges unharmed and destroys the fleet.

The mystery woman and Ignia observe this from their separate locations. Natsu attacks Aldoron’s back. A sprout emerges, turning into a humanoid tree (Wolfen), and tells him he did 1HP of damage to the dragon, who has 1M hitpoints. All over, Wolfen emerge. One grabs Cana and turns into Gildarts after reading her mind. Cana frees the other Fairy Tail members to deal with the humanoid trees.

Meanwhile, Natsu’s Wolfen turns into Happy, allowing Natsu to easily defeat him. Others emerge, whom Natsu burns. Natsu has an idea and allows one to grab him and turn into Zeref.

Thoughts/Review:

We get a little villain betrayal plot twist with Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 15.

Waking the Dragon

Things took a bit of a dark turn in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 15 when Aldoron absorbed all of the people from the five cities built on his body. Wow. Well, that explains why five, large cities would be established on the body of a giant, wood dragon god.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 15

That aside, I didn’t expect to see the White Mage get betrayed. I don’t know who this mystery lady is. However, the way she talked, combined with Ignia (in human form) observing the same events from different locations makes me think she’s another of the dragon gods. But why lie and get this White Mage to supposedly steal Aldoron’s magic?

White Mage

As I see it, there are two possible outcomes from the events of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 15. First, the White Mage goes nuts over the betrayal. Thust she becomes an enemy to all. However, as I rewatch the episode, I don’t see that as very probable. Since the White Mage lost her controlling powers, then the mystery woman must have granted them to her. So what are the extent of the White Mage’s true powers?

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 15

The more likely outcome is the typical one for Mashima-sensei. This was exemplified when the Wolfen clone of Zeref appeared. As I recall, Zeref was THE endgame boss villain in the OG Fairy Tail series prior to Acnologia showing up. Yet at the end of the day, he was redeemed. Heck, the list of “bad guys” Fairy Tail has fought and defeated, only to become Fairy Tail allies is endless.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 15

As such, I think the White Mage will repent, ask Fairy Tail for forgiveness, and then join them for real. That’s what Mashima-sensei usually does, so I’ll be shocked if this doesn’t happen. We’ll see though.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

I’m desperate to get this done so I can get back to work to dig myself out from the tsunami of stuff I have to do there. So let me end my review of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 15 with some final thoughts.

  • Now that the entire Fairy Tail guild are free, obviously they’ll be needed to defeat the Wood Dragon god. However, what does this mean for the 100 Years Quest? If the guild gets involved, wouldn’t they become part of said quest? If nothing else, I want Juvia in on Team Natsu.
  • Nothing spells “see how powerful I am” than Aldoron wiping out a massive fleet of magical, flying ships without breaking a sweat.
  • These Wolfen are a clever way for Mashima-sensei to bring back characters like Zeref, or have one cameo like Gildarts. I figure we’ll see a few more cameo characters come from these blocks of wood.
  • Speaking of Zeref, if the Wolfen-Zeref has Zeref’s killing powers, he should still want to carry out Aldoron’s wishes, right? So I’m not sure how Natsu’s plan will work.
  • These omake, comedy stories that sometimes get thrown in really are “What the heck is going on?” moments.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 15

In the end, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest 15 was pretty entertaining. While I appreciate the honorifics getting left in the subtitles, I wish they’d have left the brother-sister ones as well.
